Hello -
My name is Moonstar Silverwolf.
No, this is not my legal name. This is the name I developed for myself about 10 years ago while I was going through a self-identification period. I will use this name as my online persona.
This blog is an expression of my thoughts. I started this blog because I wanted a more public way to express myself without worry about being connected to my profession, career or my family. I intend to keep the writing within this blog to be about what is going on around the world, my world. My thoughts may be controversial to some, but to others I am just like them. We live in a complex world and this is my attempt through life to understand that complexity while also allowing others to express their own thoughts along with my constant travels.
A little about me:
I am a transitioning Muslim revert. What does this mean? It means between myself and Allah, I am on the path to becoming, while I am not completely public about any of it and I’m still learning what it means. I make mistakes and I am trying to adjust. My journey here took me from Christianity into a spiritual Paganism in which I struggled to figure out what I believed. Never leaving monotheism, I settled into a nature based idea of the divine & it became my life. This is where my blog’s title comes from (A Pagan’s Journey). My journey has lasted ten years and has taken a different turn this past year leading me into Islam. I have a deep love for the spiritual writings of the Sufis & find myself often writing poetry in much the same way.
I am a political activist. I am a dissenter. I’m pro-freedom, pro-human rights and civil rights, pro-choice and equality for all. I have a radical side to me, but I’m also very compassionate and welcoming of opposing views. So, be prepared as I may support groups you do not understand. I support the resistance of the occupied in their struggle for freedom. I focus on Human & Civil Rights bringing truth to the surface.
I am an artist. I am heavily involved within the theatre art world dealing with scenery, painting, lighting and sound. I enjoy taking photography and often do that on my own time. I paint & draw. I edit and create. I do these both with my hands and on a computer. I enjoy editing video and sound for fun and occasionally put all of this stuff together for the stage.
I am an educator, a teacher and a leader. I do this for a living and when I am not creating works of art or writing in my blog, I can often be found working in my job.
I am a proud member of the ACLU & a supporter of Amnesty International.
