I’ve got some nosy students – with audio podcasting update from my IR classes this week

Today was again, I very long day, but a good one. Nothing too much to complain about as far as my morning classes. I always feel like I’m rushing everywhere all day, however. Class was fun again. I’m feeling more comfortable with the people within the class and I’ve been starting to speak up, even tried to give an answer in class. I’m getting the sense that out of the 18 people in the class, only about 4-5 of us have fully read the material we are going over in class, which I’m sure is typical for this university, but sad at the same time. I’m actually done with the reading all the way through this section and plan to start reading the book in the next grouping this weekend.

As promised, I wanted to share a few moments from the classes this week. This first clip is from Tuesday, is rather short and touches only on one item – Israel & Hezbullah. The professor briefly discussed what Israel did which led to the strengthening of the values of the people of South Lebanon. However, I’m sure if some of my friends from this area find an error in what he said, they will let me know ;)

The next clip is a couple of snippets from today. It begins with the professor discussing the fact that different nations & states have different ideas about rights – Human Rights particular in this clip relating to US vs China. The second half is discussing the role of the Media in political culture.

Following class, I again rushed to teach the last class of the day, which I must say is going to be a fun class to teach, but also it’s going to be hard to keep everyone on task. They are a great group of students with a good sense of humor & I think the toughness of my course is starting to get around the department, so they are paying attention very well. However, they are also the most nosy group I have had. Someone last night asked me if I had a crush on anyone or was in a relationship. I avoided the crush question slightly and said, sure but didn’t elaborate and said no, I am not in a relationship. Though, of course they started to want to know who the crush was on and started naming off people they know and I had to laugh and say, no I would not date anyone currently or past from the theatre department – I learned that mistake already – don’t date artists who have no interest anything but art and the fact that the few they named off are really not the brightest in the bunch, so apparently, these new freshman need to be taught just how intelligent I am and how I am attracted to nerdy people :-P

I did get to have a few smiles today. A friend of mine who lives in Seattle sent me a random ” <3 " text and said she just had a moment and wanted to say hi and that she misses me. It was sweet. I also sent a quick text to my friend from lunch yesterday just to wish her a great day, I hope she appreciated it.

Anyway, tomorrow I have no classes, but lots of work to complete, so it will be a long day but I should be able to go home at a good hour which will be nice, perhaps I'll have time to read.

Peace and Love.
