Completed another reading

I finally finished the book I was reading. I started reading it during Ramadan, but was slowed quite a bit by work, but I have finished. This means I can move onto another one I started during Ramadan which will go much quicker I’m sure since it’s geared towards teens (which I am not.lol)

The book I read was called: The Muslim Next Door: The Qur’an, the Media, and that Veil Thing by Sumbul Ali-Karamali. I felt the book was really well done. The half to two-thirds was very informative about the belief structure & history of Islam and the last third dealt with terrorism, fundamentalism, her response to 9-11 & why misconceptions about Islam still exist and are hard to get rid of. I liked that the book was structured in a sort of dialogue type way. It was personable and she explained things sometimes as a Muslim talking to a non-Muslim and sometimes it seemed like she was discussing things with another Muslim. But it might have seemed that way because my knowledge of Islam was greater than the average US citizen (who knows)

I do need to figure out what I need to do next in my studies as I do not feel I am ready to “become” a Muslim, tho my heart says differently. I just don’t know some of the reasons why this is done or this, so I still feel like I’m missing details. I have a great friend who says she will help answer questions for me if I email them or ask her. So, as I look through my next book I’m going to start jotting down questions I have. I have a feeling if I give myself the rest of the year to fully comprehend all of this, then 2010 is going to be a fresh new beginning (if you want to say that)

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure everyone knew where I was in my studies.
