Creed has “Overcome”

Lead Singer Scott Stapp and the rest of the band split when their professional and personal lives could not handle each other. In their new album, they address some of these “demons” that caused the split which included drugs and alcohol by Stapp. I will most definitely be picking up the new album when it comes out later this month.
Just hearing Stapp’s vocals reminds me of sitting in the corner of one of my university buildings with a book in my hand and earphones over my ears while “Human Clay” or “My Own Prison” played continuously as I drowned out the rest of the noise so I could read. There was nothing else I could do because my roommates were not really that fun to live with & I really wanted to succeed. And, despite my grades the first year, I did quite well. My only real failure that I saw of myself was the fact that I allowed myself to get a C in Calc 2 and the only reason my grades seemed worse was because I was in the Honor’s program & was taking 300 level classes as a freshmen. Yeah, not a great idea & caused my GPA to suffer but damn, when I look back, grades don’t matter but the knowledge I took away from it was amazing.
So, Creed brings back memories. Here’s the first signal off their new album due in stores October 27th.
and one from “My Own Prison” which if I remember right, was inspired by the news that he was going to be a father.
