Updates, transition & transparency of blog owner
Posted: June 16th, 2009 | Author: Moonstar Silverwolf | Filed under: Facebook, blogging | Tags: blog, Facebook, myspace | View CommentsThe traffic on this blog has been exploding since I first migrated from the free wordpress.com blog to my own domain. The amount of traffic I am receiving on here I did not imagine I would ever get so quickly, but I appreciate all of you that are slowly becoming regular readers and I only hope I have the dedication to keep up my blog once I start back to work.
I wanted to spend a blog explaining some things I am going to be doing over the course of the next week or so. Some of this has to do with the blog traffic and some of it has to do with enjoyment in what I am doing with this blog.
The first is dealing with the new traffic that I do not want. It seems that along with the increase in traffic, I am also getting an increase in spam. Earlier this week, I added a plug in that is designed to trap spam bots from disguising themselves so I can easily tell they are spam. However, if I begin to get more spam both in this form and in other forms, then I’m going to have to do something I really don’t want to do and add those word recognition things you see on other sites to determine if you are human or not. I am sorry if I have to add it as I know they can be a pain sometimes, but I do not want to have spam take control of my blog, the comments or my email or my time for that matter, so just bare with me.
The Second deals with my migration of my blog away from my public life so that my blog can remain separate from this as I start to open myself up for more transparency for my readers. To do this, I have removed blog RSS feeds from my other sites, started a facebook profile specifically for the followers of this blog & removed my blog from my other facebook profile leaving only an anonymous link between the two so I can edit the networkblogs information from either account. You are all welcome to friend me on facebook through the link on my rightside sidebar. Again, as I make the transition things will remain someone closed off and anonymous, but I will slowly reveal more details on both here and there about me so I don’t seem so mysterious.
Finally, for those of you who know me enough to have been my friend through myspace, I am slowly transitioning my blog fully over to this blog. I will be doing a test soon on private blogging & password protected blogging to see how it works & if I am successful then myspace will no longer be needed. I have already removed over 200 people from my friends list and will be removing about 30 or so more within the next week or so as I do my tests. Once I have transitioned fully over to this blog, I will make the determination as to what to do with my myspace account.
So, as you can see, I am in the process of moving everything here so that I can be more open, so look for new exciting things to come as I make myself more transparent, I hope you enjoy.
