I have learned that it is Blog about Palestine Day as started by another blogger named za3tar. In it, the blogger explains why this date was chosen:

May 15th of this year is the 61st anniversary of the Palestinian Nakba –which marked the beginning of the modern age Palestinian plight and suffering. This date is remembered annually on local, regional, and global levels.

Blog About Palestine Day

Now, I am not Palestinian, I’m not Arab, I don’t even know the language, so many would ask why would I support a country like Palestine. Isn’t that Anti-Semitic or something? No, absolutely not. I have many friends who I will never hate who are Jewish and I am not against the religion. Does this mean I’m against the state of Israel. No, while I feel the creation of the state of Israel was a huge UN mistake, now that the country has been formed, I do not feel removing a country will solve anything.

What I see is a problem with oppression & a lack of human freedom. Since Israel was created, there has been little attempts by the world in helping those who were displaced by this move. I find the United States to be particularly at fault for this as we continue to give billions of dollars in aid and even more billions in military assistance to a country who ignores UN sanctions against their actions. I am going to continue to speak out against the injustices that have been created and I continue to support the movement towards freedom of the Palestinian people. I disagree with my government in their blatant disregard to an organization that, yes does use violence, but an organization that is fighting for the freedom of their people. Just because we do not like their tactics does not make them a terrorist organization. Should they stop their violence sure, but we as a people must also overcome our “terrorist fears” and come to realize that what is really going on has nothing to do with the violence but has everything to do with basic human freedoms.

Palestine deserves to be free from Israeli oppression, no ifs ands or butts. Until there is a free Palestine and the Palestinian people are allowed to return to their homeland, I will support every effort they have in gaining this freedom. I expect my government to change their stance on Israel until this happens as well. No country – not the US, not Israel – no one is above the law, no one is allowed to commit crimes against humanity & no one is allowed to oppress their people and not answer to the world’s criticism.

I am against oppression of human freedom, therefore, I am currently against Israel and I will continue to criticize this country until the oppression of the Palestinian people becomes no more.

Insha’allah, My there be Peace from Allah to his people. حالة حبّ وسلا
